Dazwischen

This interactive sound installation opens up its own realm of experience at the intersection of interior and exterior. The aim of this work is to expand the gray area between inclusion and exclusion at an auditory level, which is modulated in dependence on the number of persons and their movement in space. In this unpredictable interaction, different sound patterns and qualities can be experienced.

Four electrodynamic exciters, four piezoelectric plates and one webcam are located in one of the access foyers of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures). They are composed in such a way as to invite visitors to interact with the space. The camera records the location and the piezoelectric plates, hidden under the carpet, trigger the signal so that the transducers, using the windows as membranes, emit audio signals challenging the visitors to make the next move.

This work was perform in cooperation with Rafael Santiago and Is part of the exhibition "Returning to Sender" organized by the master degree "Kulturen des Kuratorischen" (Cultures of the Curators), the Academy of Graphic Arts and Books of the city of Leipzig, Germany and presented in the "Haus Der Kulturen der Welt "(House of World Cultures).
