Nachtclub

There are a lot of apologies to nightclubs, this one belongs to Nile Rodgers, one of the most influential Funk- and Disco legends.

Nachtclub is a sound piece recorded inside a nightclub by Hanke Van Meer and edited by Edgardo Gómez. In this production, people, talks, situations and music become in a 35-minute radio feature. The authors are thereby ethnologists of the night, exploring through sound recordings the nightlife of people in a territory, that many of us should have lost.

This production was nominated for the final of the 6th Berlin Radiofeature Festival, which took place in April 2015 in Berlin, Germany.

“A good nightclub feels like the center of the universe, wich is otherwise cold and lifeless. Here is not about leisure, your life escapes you, if you are not there. A club is a public place in which everything, the disconnection, the talks, the dance and the music become a theater piece. A theater, in which all his components oscillate at the same frequency, and we are right in the middle.”
